Tami Nelson

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Tami has worked with students of all ages from kids (Austin Childrens Theater, Creative Arts of St. Tammany) to teenagers (OutYouth, BriteLights Acting Studio) to college students (Oberlin Improv Conference, University of Arizona, University of Texas) as well as hundreds of adults. Tami has taught improv consistently since 2006 as well as serving as director/co-founder of two successful improv training centers.

Tami has coached and directed workshops with many Austin and New Orleans improv student and performing troupes as well as working with groups nationally. She has taught workshops in Austin, TX, Tucson AZ, Atlanta GA, Jackson MS, New Orleans LA, Covington LA, Baltimore MD, Philadelphia PA, Dallas TX, St. Louis MO, Myrtle Beach SC, Ashville NC and Oberlin OH.

TRAINING EXPERIENCE
Tami Nelson has studied comedy since 2003 and has been a full time performer and improv instructor since 2006. In addition to attending nearly every comedy festival in North America, she has studied improv with notable instructors from ImprovOlympic, The Second City, The Annoyance Theater and The Upright Citizens Brigade and was a recipient of the Chicago Improv Festival 9 Education Scholarship.

ABOUT TAMI NELSON
Tami has worked diligently in the comedy communities of Austin and New Orleans to become one of the most notable improv comedians. She has been recognized by The Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin Awards, The B. Iden Payne Awards and won Best of Fest at the 2008 Frontera Fest. In addition to her stage work, Tami has performed in videos and shorts with TNM’s production branch, Los Angeles based Studio8.net. In 2009 Tami made her Comedy Central debut with Studio8 (Atom TV).  She splits her time between New Orleans and Austin performing with a variety of house troupes including Chris and Tami, The Megaphone Show Cast, You Don’t Know The Half of It and Claws with Fangs.
