Vanessa Gonzalez has a deep passion for performing and making people laugh. She studied Theater Performance and Production at Texas State University. For 3 years, she was a writer and performer for the Emmy nominated, sketch comedy group, The Latino Comedy Project. When she came to The New Movement she developed a new found love for improv under the teachings of Chris Trew and Tami Nelson. During her training at TNM, she became apart of various house troupes including Delta Burka, Claws with Fangs and The Megaphone Show Cast.
Vanessa is the Conservatory Director for The New Movement – Austin. Along with teaching at The New Movement, she has taught workshops at corporate events, Austin’s 4th Annual Skill Share, Texas State University and teen improv camps with Brite Lites Studios.
When she is not teaching comedy, Vanessa performs with Alex Berry and Micheal Foulk in the improv trio, HANDBOMB. They have taken TNM’s dating show, From Awkward to Awesome to Fun Fun Fun Fest and opened up for Big Freedia on New Year’s Eve. They were also selected for “Best of Week” at Frontera Fest for their show, HANDBOMB mis-presents Romeo and Juliet. You can see them perform regularly at TNM – Austin. On top of that, you can also catch Vanessa performing with the New Orleans based comedy group, Stupid Time Machine.
