Yamina Khouane

Yamina started her love affair with improv comedy at the age of 18 when she joined the University of Texas’ short-form competitive improv troupe Gigglepants in the Fall of 2006. Improv became her new resounding passion, though she still continued her theatre studies and acting training at the University. With GP, she performed on a regular basis and quickly moved up in the leadership ranks, eventually working as Director of the troupe. As Director, she was able to successfully enter Gigglepants in several comedy competitions including the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and the Chicago Improv Festival’s College Improv Tournament.

Yamina discovered The New Movement Theater in the Summer of 2010. Having her former Gigglepants compatriot Michael Domangue as support and encouragement to take classes, TNM was the no-brainer choice for her long-form improv education and training. She and her fellow classmates clicked instantly and went on as a group to become Delta Burka, a popular and respected house improv troupe.

Since then, Yamina has gone on to perform with several well-received improv troupes (including Claws With Fangs, a group formed by founder and co-owner Tami Nelson) and has become a regular performer in the Megaphone Show, TNM’s flagship weekly improv show. In 2011 she had the pleasure of performing in the Megaphone Marathons in New Orleans (with four different troupes) and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin.¬†She is currently an Improv instructor and will keep teaching for as long as TNM will have her.”

Yamina intends to continue expanding her comedy horizons, maybe do some TV stuff here and there, but hopes to perform on a Broadway stage some day. Dream role: Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. Expected role: a maid in some show’s ensemble.
