New Orleans, La 70116

JULY 21 – 25

This July, come study with The New Movement in New Orleans.  From July 21st – July 25th, our New Orleans theater will run The Megaphone Marathons Training Camp, a five-day round-the-clock improv intensive held in conjunction with the colossal improv festival known as the The Megaphone Marathons.

Training camp is for the improvisor with the heart and drive of an athlete.  We seek the type of improvisor who never stops pushing, who watches shows with an eye for every single detail and move, who craves more practice, more stage time, and more challenge.  If this sounds like you – whether you’re a newbie or an old pro – we invite you to The Megaphone Marathons Training Camp.  Training Camp gives you an opportunity to learn all day, perform and explore our badass city each night, and take part in our epic improv festival, the Megaphone Marathons.  By the time you return to your home troupe, you will be a finely tuned improv athlete with the skills needed to take your game to the next level.

  • REPS – 30 hours of improv; over 200 scenes
  • STAGE TIME – A performance each night in front of an audience.   Graduation show at The Megaphone Marathons Festival
  • PRICE – Tuition is $325, making it one of most affordable intensives out there

Training Camp focuses its 30+ hours of improv on essentially one thing: solid engaging scene work.  We believe that many improvisors – in their haste to move through the curriculum, master advanced devices, and create the newest most novel form – neglect to develop the fundamental skill of creating consistently badass scenes.  Accessible to beginners and still challenging to experienced players, The Training Camp curriculum is a focused drilling of scene work, and draws on the following   concepts:

  • 9366536755_64c1289800_bConsistently starting scenes with power and clarity
  • Emotion and truth
  • Building multi-leveled Characters
  • Creating rich environments worth caring about
  • Patterns, heightening, and comedy math

All participants must have taken a level 1 improv class at an improv theater.
