Jamie has been seen on The Conan O’brien show, MSNBC’s Up with Chris, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Showtimes The Green Room, CNN’s The Joy Behar Show, The Paramount Comedy Channel in the UK, The BBC, The Comedy Channel in Australia, HBO Canada, and Showtime Comedy in the Middle East.

He Co-Hosts Citizen Radio which has been praised by Janeane Garofalo, Noam Chomsky, Robin Williams and him and his co-host were named by The Nation Magazine as top “media heroes” . Most importantly Glenn Beck has called him a “doofus” and “goofball” and Jonah Goldberg refuses to fight him.

Jamie was invited to The Montreal Comedy Festival, in 2007  and  2008 and brought his one man show there in 2010 after debuting it at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. He was a Timeout Chicago, Sydney, New York and London’s Critics Pick. He has played the concert hall of the Sydney Opera House. Before that he lived out of his car and dropped out of high school. Take that, life!

He co-hosts Citizen Radio with Allison Kilkenny (The Nation), which is dedicated to covering the stories that the mainstream, corporate media ignores. Shows, Shows, Shows!

TV Dinner

Every show at TNM is handcrafted by some loving, albeit crazy, people who have been trained at TNM and are now ready to go to the next level with a full scale production.  It all starts at TV Dinner.  Here you’ll get to see snipits of shows that are being considered for a full hour time slot.  In the past we’ve seen Mumbleoke, News Movement, and The Court of the People with Judge G-Su Paek.  The next TV Dinners are April 13th and May 18th so don’t miss out on this special preview show!

Part II

The only thing I love more than a good sequel is a bad sequel.  Taking that concept and running with it, TNM Austin’s Artistic Director Alex Berry and With Leather writer Brandon Stroud are taking the movie pitch process and tearing it to shreads.  The first of its kind, this show is a competition to write sequels to movies that do not need it (which is arguably every sequel).  This 3 round competition includes a prepared pitch, a pitch written on the spot by audience suggestion, and finally an impromtu pitch all culminating in a grand champion.  See the debut episode April 19th!  Buy tickets here!

TNM Tonight

TNM’s own late night show during prime time hosted by Devon Tincknell.  This show has it all…sketch, standup, live music and more than a few surprises.  Presales are cheaper than waiting to buy at the door and there is always free beer so don’t be a lazy pants about it.  Next show is May 4th.  Buy here!

News Movement

The TV Dinner darling is moving to its own time slot beginning June 8th.  Get your fill of local and national “news” from our team of investigative journalists, round table discussions, and field reporters.  Hosted by the lovely Henry Linser and the handsome Katelyn Cox-Lowder, they put the “ew” in “news.”  I regret that.  Buy your tickets early!

This was a blazing success last season and we’re bringing it back.  Pizza, beer, raffles, this is THE event if you are interested in taking comedy classes or just curious about The New Movement.  Each department has representatives there to answer your questions and get you registered. What’s New!

We are excited to bring new shows to our regular lineup in Season Two.  Sophie Johnson’s new show Press Pass features improv, sketch, and stand up inspired by the news and it goes monthly starting on April 12th.  Two red hot teams have cracked the weekend lineup.  You are used to seeing them on Thursdays, but now you get to see them on the weekend.  TNM brings you House Party featuring Dean’s List and Brows.  Come see two of the teams that everyone is talking about on May 17th and June 28th.  You can also catch the debut of Comedy Intervention (4/5), the live podcasting of TNM.fm (4/27), and our version of the popular game show Match Game (5/31).

And…We Still Hold Down Saturday Nights

The Megaphone Show is still our ultra popular Saturday night show that holds it down weekly.  Our flagship show features local movers and shakers, celebrities, and downright badass people telling true life stories followed by a cast of all star improvisers doing improv inspired by those stories.  Past guests like Harry Shearer, Tony Clifton, Sean Patton, John Michael of My Name is John Michael, and more told stories in Season One.  Who do we have in store for Season Two?  Come find out.

The comedy event of the Summer is back! The Megaphone Marathons, now in its 4th year, is looking for submissions of all kinds – improv, sketch, character standup pieces, solo pieces, late night weird stuff, etc.. Fill the form out below and save that date.

Please note that for the first time ever, The Megaphone Marathons has a $10 submission fee. This money goes right back into the festival to ensure large crowds and badass parties.

Attention Standup Comedians: We want more innovative programming. We want your shows. We want them by July 18th!
his is the Standup Showdown and here’s how it works – we are taking pitches for interesting programming via the form below. The top 4 ideas will then be booked during prime TNM show slots for all of August. If your pitch wins you would get the chance to have your show booked monthly on a Friday night at 10:30p.

In the past we’ve had comedians come to us with interesting shows that still books local talent but in a new, innovative way.  We would like this competition to provide a great location to better showcase all the comedy talent Austin has to offer. Kath Barbadoro and Andrew Tompkins have done shows with us in the past like Wimbletube, a competition based around YouTube clips, and currently we are producing Laugh Dammit! with Derek Phelps and Happy Birthday! with Duncan Carlson.  We are looking for more programming like this.

So, do you think you’re the next Tim Allen or Gallagher?  Well, you could be and right here is your chance to have your very own Home Improvement, Hollywood Squares, Watermelon smash, etc. What’s next?  Just fill out the form below and pitch us your idea.  We will notify the winners late July. JT Habersaat and the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour release details for Stand Up! Records recording of Hostile Corporate Takeover.

Austin, Texas – Having recently announced their signing to powerhouse imprint Stand Up! Records, JT Habersaat and his critically-hailed Altercation Punk Comedy Tour have confirmed details on their upcoming live recording.

 The new album, dubbed Hostile Corporate Takeover, will be recorded live in Austin, Texas on August 11^th, 2012 at the New Movement Theater. The confirmed lineup, headlined by Habersaat, will include Mack Lindsay (Vans Warped Tour), Mike Wiebe (vocalist for Riverboat Gamblers), Joe Staats (Fun Fun Fun Fest) and legendary hardcore vocalist Billy Milano (MOD). The show will take place at 10:30 pm for $10, with tickets available at the door on a first come, first served basis.

 “I’m beyond thrilled to work with Dan Schlissel and Stand Up! Records, and have long been an admirer of the label’s roster,” says Habersaat. “Dan and I are exceptionally stoked on the level of talent that will be joining me for the live recording. These are some of my all-time favorite comics and closest friends.”

 Habersaat, who initiated the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour in 2008, has become a go-to support act for a wide-range of boundary-pushing comics and bands, including Doug Stanhope, Henry Rollins, Brian Posehn, Andy Dick and Jeanine Garofalo. The Altercation Tour has appeared on numerous national festivals including Fun Fun Fun Fest 2008-2011, The Fest 9 and Vans Warped Tour, and Habersaat recently co-headlined the comedy portion of Las Vegas’ Punk Rock Bowling Festival 2012 opposite Rancid, Nofx and more.

 Stand Up! Records was founded by Dan Schlissel in 1999 in Minneapolis, MN and has gone on to release albums from some of the comedy scene’s brightest stars including David Cross, Maria Bamford, Doug Stanhope, Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron, Lewis Black and Hannibal Buress.

 “I’m happy to have a motivated self-starter like JT be involved in our hostile corporate takeover,” says Schlissel. “Stand Up! Records started as a DIY label in a basement, out of the ashes of the music world, so not only do we get JT and the Altercation Comedy Tour, but we are also happy to work with peers who have the same independent roots.”

 “It helps that they’re funny fuckers as well,” Schlissel added.

 The New Movement Theater, curated by improv master Chris Trew, has become a comedy institution in the city of Austin. It is located between 7^th and Lavaca Street, and doors for the 18+ event open at 10:15 pm.
