You wanna learn how to write killer sketches? This is your first step. In these weekly classes, you’ll explore the technical aspects of sketch, collaborate with your teacher and classmates, and eventually put up a sketch recital on TNM’s stage in front of actual paying audience members. This is how you learn to do the thing.
Nicholas Napolitano started writing sketch comedy during his formative years at LSU. In March of 2012, Nick discovered The New Movement while on a lunch break, signed up for classes immediately, graduated from the conservatory in June of 2013 and hasn’t looked back since. He’s currently the artistic director of TNM, bar manager of Rosewood, the host of TNM’s late night talk show Night Cap and a main cast member of The Megaphone Show. In the past, he was part of TNM house troupes Assembly, Science, and the sketch troupe Table, who performed their full show, Neighborhood Watch, at the 2014 New Orleans Fringe Festival. He also teaches improv and sketch at TNM’s conservatory.
We begin new classes every few weeks. If this one is sold out or held at an inconvenient time, look for our next class session here.
Our improv and sketch class sessions consist of 8 weekly, 2 hour sessions, and a recital show performed in front of an audience.
New class sessions start all the time; at $225 each for improv, $250 each for sketch. Ideally, students continue in the same time slot from Level 1 onward, but if you need to switch to another time or need more info about our Level 2-Level 5 classes or internships, please contact TNM’s Conservatory Director (Nola – TNMNOLA@gmail.com, ATX – TNMATX@gmail.com).
We also offer sketch writing classes, team building workshops for businesses and corporations, week-long and weekend intensives, and kids and teen comedy classes (NOLA only).
